I would not use my neighbor’s unsecured wireless network. When you log onto a network it goes two ways. If I found out someone had managed to log on to my network I would take measures to prevent them from doing it again. There is nothing really illegal about it. If people don’t want other people on their network they should not leave it open.

Word

Welcome once again dear readers,

Today we shall discus some of the finer points of word. In class over the last two chapters we have gone over a lot of the formatting techniques in Microsoft Word. I think Word has become a much more user friendly program over the last few editions.

Most of the techniques taught in the chapters where fairly easy to learn. It is a matter of knowing what tab and button to select in the ribbon. One of the best ways for me to learn how to use Word was just playing with. If you don’t like something there is the very handy undo button.

 One of the coolest features for typing a paper is the Reference tab. It makes inserting, organizing, and updating references super easy. All you have to do is select the References tab followed by the Insert Citation button. Type in all of your info and that’s it. At the end of your paper you can even press the Bibliography button and it puts down all the info for you.

What Punishment for Webcam Spying Is Appropriate

            For this week's blog we have been assigned the task of discussing web cam spying. Should it be illegal if so what should the punishment be? How much privacy should one expect in a public place?

            I think recording a person without there knowledge should definitely be illegal. Using a web cam to view a person without their knowledge is a form of voyeurism. I know I would feel completely violated if it happened to me. In the book it brings up a school loaning laptops to kids. The laptops had security software to take photos in case of theft. The laptops ended up taking over 66,000 photos of students. How would you feel if this was your child? Why was the software taking photos if the laptop was not reported stolen? What is the difference between spying on someone through their bedroom window or on their web cam?

            It is my opinion that punishment for cyber voyeurism should be similar that of a peeping tom or a more traditional voyeur. When you participate in crimes of this nature weather you mean to or not you are taking away a since of security. You are going into an individual's private space uninvited and striping away their since of safety. You are threatening there since of control in their own home.  

            I feel a little differently about being recorded in a public place. If you are in a public place your expectation of privacy is limited. Anyone can see what you are doing and who you are with. I don't think it is OK to stalk someone or hound them every time they come out of a door but if you happen to be caught in a photo or a video by chance I don't see a major issue with it.  

Office 2013

Hello Gentle Reader,

I am supposed to be going over what I learned in this chapter and if I found the information useful.  My honest answer is I did not learn much. The most I can say is I learned the proper names for the ribbon, I thought it was just the toolbar.

                My thoughts on Office 2013 are as fallows. If you have Office 2010 already it is a waste of money to upgrade. With a little tweaking most of the "new" features in 13 can be found in 10 or you there is a free substitute. One of the few true upgrades to be found is the ability to edit PDF files in word. A nice feature to be sure but one that can be found without paying $150. The same is true with Power Points,  Presenting Online feature.  SkyDrive is an awesome feature  but anyone with a Microsoft account has access to cloud storage. In conclusion, save your money.

             You may be asking yourself "Who this daring individual that is willing to traverse such challenging terrain to bring knowledge and wisdom to the masses?" Well gentle reader, I shall share a little of myself with you to answer your burning question. My name is Erinn. I have a cat her name is Jinx.  I am from a magical place filled with wonder, and mystery known as California. I detest green beans and most cake. I love books and surprise road trips. I have many and varied talents. Qualifications for writing this blog include but are not limited to, taking CIS 110(This is home work for the class and thus required). Being employed by Apple to perform technical support for iOS devices ( :'-( I thought this was going to be an easy A. Boy was I fooled. ) and in a past life I was a network administrator. 

            I have a love hate relationship with technology as I think most people in this day and age do. My daily life is not only surrounded by technology but it is consumed by it. I am on a computer all day for work. When I get home, I use my iPad for homework. When I am on the boat or a passenger in the car I have my Kindle. My Galaxy S4 is my constant companion. Did I mention my significant other is a computer  programmer who is going back to school for computer engineering? Like I said it is love hate. I hate to love it but would never give it up. To be fair to the masses I don't think everyone's life is swallowed up quite like mine. Tell me if I am wrong . Are you to engulfed by the electronic age? When did it start for you? Do you have a guilty electronic pleasure?  I am not going lie I do....Candy Crush I am at level 184. How sad is that?  I also have a deep and abiding love for  Netflix.
